Overview Khanmigo is Khan Academy's AI tutor — a GPT 4 class assistant, trained and constrained specifically for education, that sits inside the Khan Academy learning platform and behaves like a patient one on one tutor rather than a chatbot that just gives you the answer. Announced in early 2023 in partnership with OpenAI, opened to the public in 2024, and now free for teachers and students in the U.S. thanks to funding from Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Gates Foundation, and others, Khanmigo is one of the very few "AI in education" products that has moved past marketing decks into real classroom use at scale.
